Sid's 6th Annual Berry Festival
We had so much positive feedback last year that we decided to go with the same lineup again this year. The only difference is Doughty Hill will be appearing as "PADDY'S ON THE WAGON", their IRISH persona, which adds Morgan Smith on mandolin to their band.
Sid and Rainie invite old friends and new to join them down by the farm pond on
July 10th for Sid's 6th Annual Berry
Festival. The meal starts at 5:PM and is a traditional BBQ cookout with home
baked beans, burgers, and salads. Dessert is strawberry shortcake topped with
Stutzman's Farm's own delicious strawberries. Price is $12. adults and $6. childrenunder 12.
This
year the festival music kicks off at 7:pm with:
Harmony Hill is a
Bluegrass/American Roots band that is fronted by 3 music loving teenagers..
They love performing their unique style of music all over the beautiful state
of Maine.
The band is comprised of the incredibly talented Catherine Strauch (18) on
vocals/ fiddle, Morgan Smith (18) on vocals/ bass/percussion and Jacob
Stutzman (15) on mandolin/keys. Morgan's dad Brian plays lead guitar and bass
and Jacob's dad Craig plays guitar, bass and sings. Their goal is to perform
songs that tell stories and bring you back in time to places you have gone,
feelings you have felt and experiences you have experienced. Members of
Harmony Hill also enjoy writing original music and are currently writing
material for their 2nd cd which is going to be released in June 2009. Their
first CD titled "LIVE........in Harmony" was released in May of
2008. They love performing original Maine
bluegrass music as well as fan favorites from bands like Del McCoury, Alison
Krauss and Union Station, Nickel Creek, Johnny Cash, and many more.

The Doughty Hill Band
For those of you who
have never heard the music of Doughty Hill there is but one word that describes
it…engaging. As you listen the band floats through a
repertoire of different styles including blue
grass, folk-rock pop, blues tunes, and, of course,
their own originals. All are done with anacoustic edge and an entertaining flare for onstage humor. The Doughty Hill Band finished their 4th album in 2008. For a full
evening of laughs, the band can perform in full costume as either a hillbilly band called Kissin Kuzins, an irreverent gospel band, Holy Crap or Muddy Diapers, a blues
band. These “personalities” are selling out audiences!
SID: For
more than 40 years, Singer/songwriter Sid Stutzman has created a rich history
deeply rooted in the music scene of Maine.
Playing his first gig at the age of 15, Sid performed with several rock,
country, folk and bluegrass bands, developing his unique style into an eclectic
fusion of musical experiences.
Sunny: Sid’s son and band mate since the age of ten Sunny Skies
Stutzman, is accomplished on the Sax. He has recently added a vintage Buescher
soprano and tenor Sax as well as a very interesting Irish flute. Add to that
his use of the harmonica and his prowess on the upright bass, the width of
Doughty Hill repertoire has widened immensely.
Brian: Band mate Brian Smith, is just as home on the acoustic
guitar as he is the bass. When he switches over to the Flat Top the band goes
into full bluegrass mode with Sid flat picking his guitar, mandolin and 6
string banjo, rounding out a unique traditional sound.
Tracy: Last but not least,
the lovely and talented Tracy Michaud Stutzman joins the band on vocals and
percussion. The band comes alive with the three part harmonies that have made
Doughty Hill so popular for these past years.
"You'll like Sid Stutzman & Doughty Hill, the
sound is solid and the songwriting better still." -Bennie
Green, Face Magazine.
"Anyone who is familiar with life in the
backwoods of Maine
will discover a great singer/songwriter whose songs are both topical and fun to
listen to." -Carrie Heslton, University of Southern
Maine
